I am loving the top and jeans from the Gertie patterns!
Lots of the patterns still seem to be featuring bat wing sleeves and excessive, in my opinion, drapiness.
There is also a cute retro Butterick, which I almost overlooked due to that atrociously busy fabric they chose to make it up in. -- Edited on 2/20/13 8:47 PM -- ------ http://talesofawannabeseamstress.blogspot.com/ |

And the 5893 pant is interesting in that some of the views are designed to be used with border prints and are cut on the cross-grain. ------ mmmmm woooool |

3 members like this. Date: 2/20/13 9:15 PM Gosh, that's a lot of drapy sack and tent dresses. The very slim models look like they're drowning in all that fabric and some of the side views are very... voluminous.
Kudos to Butterick though for giving us a simple side and back view for many of the patterns -- a nice change to get a good view of the garment rather than a nutty model pose.

One woman. One sewing machine. One giant stack of fabric. What could possibly go wrong? |

I like dress B5887 though. A nice mix of color blocking and draped/pleated front. ------ Happy Sewing! |

The Connie Crawford wrap dress is lovely, and the shaped-hem skirt is kinda fun. Other than that there's nothing that blows my skirt up, as they say. -- Edited on 2/20/13 11:51 PM -- ------ I've moved! Visit my new sewing blog at http://chiralcraft.wordpress.com

3 members like this. Date: 2/21/13 0:46 AM I love that they recreated Michelle Obama's dress from the DNC! I was hoping not to get any more patterns, but this one will be mine at the next sale :)
It's B5894

I also like this top,
B5890, with tucks and a peter pan collar option. Reminds me a bit of Colette's Sencha, actually, but without the button back:

I also really like the photographs. I hope they keep doing it that way - it's very useful. The moving poses give you an idea of how the garment might move and style and the frozen poses let you really look at the lines. |

Date: 2/21/13 8:56 AM I think it's a great line-up. There is a lot of volume, but I've finally come to terms with that. I really like Gertie's pants pattern, and I love that they knocked of michelle obama's dress - I was actually sitting here last week trying to figure out how to make it from an existing pattern. I like the poses too - I feel like I know how it looks standing still, and how it looks with some motion. I'd love to see them do a quick 365 degree video the way some online stores do! |

Date: 2/21/13 9:08 AM A couple of the side views are very unflattering, which is a good clue the front would be too on me! ------ JanieV |
