Does Burda have a fitting shell?

I'm Looking specifically for across front, and across back.

andye   Beginner VA USA Member since 5/9/09 Posts: 1532	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 2/23/13 0:53 AM I looked in my copy of Haggar (2004) and found the following values Bust Waist Hips Back Chest 80,60,86,34,31.5 84,64,90,35,32.5 88,68,94,36,33.5 92,72,98,37,34.5 96,76,102,38,35.5 100,80,106,39,36.5 Which seem to correspond, more or less, to Burda 34--44. Will have to go up a size, then.

One was a 1980s broad-shoulder monster, but the other, 3750 , was a jewel. Right now, there does not seem to be even one image of it on the internet, but if you set up a search on ebay, eventually it will turn up. -- Edited on 2/23/13 3:29 AM --

I'm not used to burda patterns, and I'm trying to get my bearings. Unfortunately, neither are listed on the burda measurement charts. As both are very difficult to measure properly, I'm not that surprised.

Thanks so much for posting this link -- I LOVE woodruff's explanation. It's sort of what I've been trying to do, but this really explains it clearly: Quote: the key to using Burda is NOT to choose a "size." Burdas have a size chart in the pattern somewhere, often on the pattern sheet itself, sometimes on the instruction sheet. What Burda wants you to do, rather than choosing a "size," is measure the body at the areas marked on the chart (including the neck, which no other pattern company concerns itself with). Then, you look at the chart and circle the size number that is closest in these areas. The chances are that you will be several different sizes, one for the bust, another for the waist, and so on. When you trace your pattern, what you will be doing is gradually moving from one size line to another, which will give you a fairly customized pattern that corresponds to the body you're sewing for.
