Date: 2/25/13 12:18 PM I have looked at a lot of machine reviews. Get more confused the more I read. I want A machine that is easy to use, can quilt well, auto threaders, auto needle down, auto cutting threads. Help I am leaning toward Bernina for about $1000.00 Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Elsie

Date: 2/25/13 12:29 PM Well, I can tell you you won't find a Bernina with auto thread cutters even used for $1,000. Well, you'd be very very blessed if you did!
What about a Juki Straight stitcher since you only mentioned quilting? The Juki 2010 might be what you are looking for. No deco stitches, but people here rave about them for both piecing and quilting. The threader is semi auto, and I've heard it isn't the greatest, but everything else on this machine is stellar! Brother makes a similar machine, and so does Janome.

Date: 2/25/13 12:40 PM The Juki HZL-F600 has all of those things and more. I paid $899 for mine brand new with lots of nice extras like a walking foot and tons of needles, a rolling case, hard cover, lots of feet, etc.
It sews through anything I throw at it. If you're set on a Bernina, best raise your budget.
Have a great time shopping. I love researching new machines. I thought I had to have a Bernina and started shopping for one...decided to give this Juki a try and I am so happy I did. ------ Jami |

If she likes Bernina, she's missing a zero and a comma in her price.

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.
My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.
