Please take a look at this album -- I have to start piecing the large stars but am stuck because I am having trouble choosing the background thread color. I have stitched out four options. My fabric is grey and white for the background fabric. The thread choices are pale grey (tone on tone), charcoal (high contrast), light green, yellow. The stars on the quilt are going to be in greens/teal/aqua/yellow/gold-- all seen in the pics. Help me choose! |

Date: 2/26/13 8:49 AM That is a beautiful quilt! And those designs are gorgeous. I like all your samples, but prefer the tone on tone - the quilting is visible and gorgeous, but won't compete with the piecing. Enjoy, looks like a fun project ------ Berninas - with a few vintage other makes, love them all |

Date: 2/26/13 10:06 AM I also prefer the tone on tone. The fabric swatch idea to help with planning is cool, I've done that with clothing so I don't know why it didn't occur for me to plan quilts that way too.
Your quilt will be beautiful, I hope you have a lot of fun working on it. ------ I'm finally a blogger!

Date: 2/26/13 12:06 PM Why do I think the stitching should be red is beyond me, but that was my first thought. The gold was not pretty and the color contrast was not good. The tone on tone was ok, the high contrast charcoal was better. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

Date: 2/26/13 1:43 PM You know, when I look at the square with the charcoal thread stitched, I want to make the quilt in reds and pinks. |

Tone on Tone blends if that is what you are looking for.
The Charcoal POPS (I like that) if you want to pop it
I didn't care for the green or yellow - Yellow (just to me) seemed a bit discolored looking ??
Just my nickles worth, no refunds :-)
Can't wait to see your finished quilt!! Good luck
:-Debbie------ I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.

Date: 2/26/13 6:34 PM The yellow looks very different IRL-- I brought them to the shop today and the lady there also named Debbie noted it because she saw the pics posted on Facebook. She liked the green. It is a tough call.
