I'm not overly thrilled yet but really like the bustier and the respective dress. The preview in the March edition shows a refashion project from a blouse and a t-shirt that intrigued me: I love to get ideas for refashioning so I guess this issue will make it into my shopping cart ... ------ Happy Sewing!

I'll wait and see when it arrives in the post! I like the long, blue, flow-y dress (picture no. 9), not sure I need a dress like that though!

I think I might like this dark blue dress but I have a feeling it's actually a sack dress with a belt for shape which isn't really my thing. I also like that giant blue floaty dress but I don't know that shape does anything for me and also, when would I ever wear it? Two years running? It's been a lot longer than that! Our summers are GREAT for running, not so great if you want to wear little spaghetti strapped sundresses. I just find Burda's summer designs to be kinda lazy repeats on the same billowy kaftan "hippy style" they run every summer in June and July... Now that I'm actually looking at the preview, this dress has potential, but it's impossible to see the seamlines in that kaleidoscope print: And didn't someone just post a RTW dress the other day that looked exactly like this wanting a pattern? ARRGHGHGH men and boys patterns YET AGAIN that are just the same freaking boring button-down shirt, waistcoat, and jacket! WHY do pattern companies only ever release male patterns for button-down shirts?? Why not, say, upsize the boys' raglan baseball tee from the last issue for men? Date: 2/27/13 11:40 AM I agree with the others, the patterns seem pretty basic: dependable and perhaps a bit boring. But I love many of the fabrics they picked. The flesh-colored linen and some of the prints--luscious. Claudia
GBK   Intermediate GERMANY Member since 12/24/07 Posts: 900	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 2/27/13 11:59 AM Partially, I blame the current fashion (at least here in Germany) which may influence burda's choice: I see a lot of loose RTW styles similar to the stuff burdastyle magazine offers. The envelope pattens are more fitted but nothing excited me this season (with the exception of a knit dress with curvy color blocking). I guess I have too many years of burda mags and envelope patterns in my stash ... ------ Happy Sewing!
