Pin interest and look up anything quilting you will get lost there. I now have a pin interest account. Easy way to keep track of all the things I see I want to make.

I think I would get frustrated with all the endless possibilities, quiltingwolf...do you find that to be true at times?

sometimes yes, as I will never have the time to make all the things I see that I want too or better to be able to afford all the fabrics I want to use in said projects lol. It's like sensory overload. Right now I have 3 projects going. I wish I had gotten into this at a younger age. I guess I was around 35. But I didn't really get into it hardcore until around 2000. So I guess I will just plod along and work on things as much as I can. This working full time is really getting in the way lol. I envy people that can retire at 55. The age we all use to be able to retire. I would only have 2 years to go. I'm trying to stock up stuff now though cos when and if I do retire income won't allow for a lot of extras.

I used to wish I'd gotten really into quilting earlier, too.

Honestly, I did NOT possess the patience or conviction in my designs to do it well, then. Inner Critic was crushing.

Now? There's d@m^ed little I cannot do and do it exceptionally well.....including that freakin' Mariner's Compass!

That Inner Critic? Drop kicked to the curb.

Getting Better with Age.

dropped my inner critic too. Now I'm open to try anything including that New York beauty and Mariner's compass.

I see so many people who got the plant jobs here at Exx on and D O W and GP right out of HS. They are all retiring at 55. I missed the boat on that and also marrying rich, I'll be reporting to work in a walker..
Oh and I get major sensory overload too. I can't do Pinterest. My brain freezes at the possibilities.

I want to know how to drop the Inner Critic. I have about sixteen of them, so they can tag team me. I would like to get rid of them, but so far they aren't budging.

Barb repeat after me. " I can do what I want, I can quilt, sew embroider how I want it's about the journey not the result. I am supposed to have fun. I've paid my dues. I have earned the right. "

Inner Critics are harpies who wanna keep us down for their own benefit. Coven of Mean Girls. The worse/insecure, etc. we feel, the stronger they are.

I refuse to acquiesce Mean Girls ( or their delightfully indulged and entitled spawn) in Real Life, so why cultivate the destructive inner ugly?

Regarding Pin-Bore.....lots of looking but not a lot of DOING. I think it's just as destructive to creative folks' confidence and competence as Photoshop ads and images are to body image/self esteem Carefully curated and edited photos project unattainable + unrealistic perfectionism. Makes us sad and dissatisfied, creating yearning for that "one thing " that will make all our sewing/quilting/creative ambitions realized.

I call " B*!!$#!%%!"

The folks gleefully displaying wonky monkey and mariachi ( both in my stash) malaligned craptastic quilts and haphazard cook-tastrophes are far more interesting and deserving of my time and attention than Pin- Bore artifice.
