I have started this for Project Linus. My first girl quilt! I really love the bright colorful fabrics, it's a Snap Pop charm pack. I have ordered 2 more, hope they will get here soon! This is one charm pack. The triangles are just folded, so each charm is actually 2 of them.

I need to figure out HOW to make the center square and the outer charms on the diagonal. I know I need some kind of filler for in between the embroidered squares- not sure what I'll use there. The fabric line is not available in yardage yet, and I don't think a print would look good anyways. Maybe a yellow with a subtle swirl? I already have it. Or white. I have lots of white.

Also- should I add a thin sashing of white in between the charms? I generally do not care for charm pack squares all touching each other, but this one isn't so bad. I don't LOVE it, but I don't hate it either.

I DO LOVE!! love love the birdies! So cute!

Cat the birdies are adorable but I guess you should have embroidered them on the diagonal?

The designs don't fit and still allow for a seam allowance on the diagonal!

Plus I want them to really stand out from the rest. Once I figure out sashing/no sashing I can get a better idea of what will be needed to join the center to the rest.

They are SO cute!! I don't mind the squares touching each other without the sashing, but do you need it for size??

I think that I would use the the turquoise or fuschia from the embroidery and the fabrics, rather than the pale yellow. Use that in a solid and make a center medallion with the birdies. Or if you decide on the sashing, make the sashes and the center medallion one of the colors and use the other for bindings...

Jan the fabric isn't available in yardage yet! The only date I can find for availability is March/April.

I really want this for the March 12th meeting.

I DO have a great fuschia swirl fabric, maybe I could use that around the embroidered squares to meet the center to the outer! I will layout some options once I get those charms in, right now there is too much of a giant opening!

I REALLY wish they had yardage, I'd love to add borders of the floral print. Maybe I'll just wait until the yardage comes out to finish it!

I think it IS going to be pretty small with no sashings. The border would solve that! Grrrrr waiting for yardage is starting to make more and more sense. I am so impatient though!

I love it! I wish I could give you some advice, but as a novice quilter, I can't.

I think I would look for Kaufman or Moda Bella solids...those are very busy prints and you want the birds to stand out. Your swirl fabric would look good if it isn't too swirly....

Me also...unfortunately that doesn't stop me....

I just looked at it as a design/color problem rather than a quilt problem.....

That is going to be absolutely adorable when finished. Should you add sashing between the blocks. My answer would be yes. A SOLID color though. Example: you have a little charm that has green, white, red and orange in it. Around that one I'd use a solid color say green. On another one that has blue in it use a blue solid. Try to use a solid that is as close to that color as you can. That way it pulls out the color in your little charm/block and makes it pop.
