I know this is a little early, but I've been thinking about this lately.

I'd like to offer suggestions for two contests next year. One being for those aged 50 on up. Maybe a knockoff, professional, or formal wear contest? I don't know, but I'd love to see what our fashionable over-50 seamstresses can whip up.

And perhaps another one for our plus-sized members, ditto on the type of contest mentioned in my previous paragraph. I'd love to see this group recognized and offer insight in their reviews on how they alter their garments to fit producing very fashionable attire. Our plus-sized members make fabulous garments, but sometimes I think they're overshadowed because most of the patterns are mainstream regular sized. Even the plus-sized models don't reflect the average plus-sized shape of everyday women.

------
Big 4 Pattern size 12, RTW bottom: 6, RTW jacket 8, RTW top (no size fits me well!)
Measurements: 34 HB/36 FB (34C bra)/27.5/36 (and working hard to keep it that way.)
Machines: Sewing/Embroidery Combo Machine: Janome MC15000. Sewing Machines: Elna 740, vintage Kenmore Model 33 (1967), Janome Gem Gold 3. Sergers: Babylock Imagine and Babylock Enlighten. Embroidery Only: Janome 300E

If you think your sewing is better than everyone else's around here, get out of my way b****. I hate sewing snobs.

This is an excellent idea. We "over 50" sewers have many more issues to deal with, i.e. changing bodies requiring high level pattern alteration and fitting skills, and finding appropriate, non-dowdy pattern designs. I can remember in the 70s, when I was learning, using Vogue dress patterns and only having to alter the waist length! These same issues apply of course to plus-size folks. So, the idea of applauding these two groups of sewers is really thoughtful and commendable.

Right on! Plus size sewists face alterations, fabric choices, pattern selection (or lack there of!) that the rest of the sewing world can only imagine! They have so much to teach us.

As an Over 60 sewist I'd love to show you young whipper snappers a few things about styling'. Teeheehee....... Like I could!

I love the idea of an "Over 50" contest. I'd like to see a "Frankenpattern" contest and an "Everdaywear TNT Tee Shirt/Pants" contest.

I'd like a "use a pattern company you've never used before" contest.

Thanks so much, Kathy! Just changed my profile pic today! It's one from my wedding day. I bombarded FB today with a bunch of photos. Hee hee.

I love the idea of a TNT T shirt/pants contest. That's what I'm currently working on through "Frankenpatternning". It would be interesting to see what others come up with and there would be so much to learn from all the entrants.
