In the scheme of everything (including world peace, the economy, etc.), I would have to say no. There are now some other threads that are just as nice. I don't know which ones they are, but I think Superior has a good competitor.

Aurifil cotton Mako thread is a 50/2 thread and also stitches out beautifully as a machine embroidery thread.
The good news is that you get a LOT of thread - 1400+ yards - on that $9 spool.

It is a little less expensive than Mettler thread. RedRockThreads carries both in a variety of spool sizes.

Superior's "Masterpiece" Thread is an equivalent, and it is more expensive at RRT.

There are less expensive brands that will get the job done just as well.

I'd like to know what thread people are using to sew clothing on a Babylock machine?

Wolf, that is CHEAPER than Coats and Clark thread pricing at JoAnn's.

If you take the cost per yard, (and Aurifil has 1422 yds on a spool), the Coats and Clark would be $15.64 for a 1422 yd spool. Aurifil is $8.95.

I bought a lot of it as the price was going up, and really, it is wonderful thread but $10.00 a spool? That is so much money!!!

It is cheaper at JHittle, especially if you buy 6 the same color. It is still about $8, last time I looked.

I have trouble dealing with $12.50 for a yard of cotton, and $10 thread!!!

Are you willing to shop on eBay? Sometimes you can get it cheaper there.

I used it for awhile and really liked using it - then I started to notice whenever I had to rip anything out -- I had a hard time seeing it. I was using a light color - but, its such a tiny thread.

Ive been using all kinds of different types of threads -- but signature has 3000 yds on the cone for 10.00 - it sews great and I use it for FMQ sometimes, too.

Aurifil is $12/spool here, but I buy it in trays/sets from TristanThreads, at a discount, so more like $3-4/spool.
