I have had a picture of a fabric Easter basket pinned to a Pinterest board for quite a while. However, when I try to click the link the blog it was posted on seems to be gone and I can't find it anywhere on the web.

Here is the link to the pic on Pinterest.

I think this is so cute! I'd love to make a few for Easter for some of the younger girls I know.

I don't have any idea of how to make this though. The only thing I have sewn without a pattern is some pot holders which are obviously not hard to make.

I assume I will need some sort of interfacing to make it stand up since vintage sheets don't have a lot of body, especially if they have been washed. I can't tell from the pic, but I assume I may need to make the bottom separate from the pleated sides? It also appears that there is bias binding at the top.

Thanks so much!

Well, there are a lot of things you can use to make it stand up. Canvas, heavy interfacing like Decorbond, Soft 'n Stable ( a product similar to what's inside a Vera Bradley bag). I would cut the rectangle and pleat it, attach to the interfacing, sew the 2 short edges together, then cut the circle for the bottom. Remember circumference = 3.14 X diameter, then add seam allowances. The diameter should equal the diameter of the pleated piece you've sewn together. Yes, it looks like the top is finished with bias tape.
