Fashion Draping: Dressmaking Basics Craftsy

It seems like it will be an excellent class. I love the dress design he’s using because it has shoulder and waist darts. Always easier to work with and more flattering, at least in my case anyway.

Date: 3/6/13 10:30 AM I got a come back to Craftsy offer of $19.99 for any class so I signed up for this one. Haven't looked at it yet as I was finishing The Couture dress class with Susan Khalje, which is the best class I've taken on Craftsy. She is a magnificent teacher and worth every penny. She is a great teacher. I also liked Lynda Maynards fitting class. I have been cutting and slashing pantterns for a couple weeks now. This class had all kinds of light bulb moments for me and I have taken a lot of fitting classes. ------ Ada

I like Lynda Maynards class too, although slashing and pinning out so hands on as she does is out of my comfort zone (I like measures). I can't really do it on myself, but my DTD works great for her method. It should be padded out in the waist and hips, but for balancing and lengths, it still pretty accurate. < : ) Shel

I bought this class to supplement a "live" draping class I'm taking at the local community college. I'm appreciating his attention to detail and the close up shots - things that I often miss in my class. My professor mentions that this is one of three methods of pattern drafting, so you might want to look into it if it's one of your interests. If you want to drape for yourself, having a dress form that accurately reflects your measurements is important - or at least makes the whole process much easier. We spent the first two months of class creating a Kenneth-King-ish body double suit to put over a dress form. It makes a huge difference.
