I was looking at the Neue Mode patterns and they look so 90ish. They look like they use a lot of shoulder pads.

I think they are 80's-90's era. I may be mistaken, but I think they stopped putting new patterns out over 15 years ago. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you buy their patterns from the 80's early 90's they will have shoulder pads. This means the shoulder will be very long and the height of the shoulder will be too high .NeueMode patterns are wonderful for formals, skirts ect.I love how streamlined the instruction book is but you do have to get through all the translations and pay close attention to little signs and measurements on the paper pieces and add seam allowances .I've made 2 wedding dresses and the best skirt I've ever seen.Really this company is worth a second look but are not so available and I think not exporting new designs

I have a few Neue Mode patterns. I think they stopped producing new designs sometime in 2008. When I look at the more recent ones they definitely have a lot of styles that were popular in the early to mid 2000's. You can still order the patterns off of their website. You can either download and print them yourself or have them print the pattern and mail them to you. The last time I placed an order I accidentally ordered two of the same pattern and they called me to ask if I really wanted two of them, so their customer service is pretty good.

They are 90's because yes they stopped making patterns quite awhile ago as someone else mentioned. I used to love them. The drafting was excellent.

If it helps, AFAICT they used steadily increasing numbers for the women's patterns, at least in the 2000s. My oldest one where I have an idea of its issue date is 22955, which I think is from fall/winter 2002-3. The newest one I bought was 23388, and that was in 2006 or so.

As others have said, not too long after that they stopped generating new patterns. It does look like they are reprinting older patterns, not just more recent ones, so yes, the ones that look like they are from the 80s or 90s probably are.

As I understand it, this used to be Burda's major competitor, and since Burda essentially wiped them off the map, that they are not producing new designs.

However, my own experience is that the fit is very similar to Burda, and that the design lines are actually superb.

For any Neue Mode pyou are interested in, remove those dated shoulder pads by making a slope shoulder adjustment, and of course start with a muslin.

I second Elona's comments. Neue Mode was the main German competitor for burda for decades. They had a monthly magazine and envelope patterns, and stopped both some time back in the 90ies, I think. If I recall correctly, the magazine - which was a tad more fashion forward and included lots of RTW designs compared to BWOF - was stopped in the early or mid 90ies, the envelopes end of 90ies or even around 2000.

The fit was similar to burda (less ease for movement compared to the Big4) and the patterns were well drafted. I actually have one classic yet intact dress pattern that I intend to use for the pattern stash contest and am curious how it will fit to my in the meantime drastically changed body.
