I know the seams need treating, but pressing? wont it melt? and how do I interface? Sew in? HELP!

You can use sew in interfacing, or try carefully with some scraps using a press cloth and low heat. Seams? Do you mean "pressing" open? How about finger pressing then topstitching each side of the seamline for detail?

Sometimes running a flat wooden stick or spoon helps. If you have a wooden butcher block counter top or other thick surface top try this:
Lay the section as flat as you can- like if you were going to iron it.
Place it on the edge of the countertop or furniture top. Now take the pleather edges and pull them taunt as you move it firmly down the edge if the surface top.

I wish I had a video of this. You are using the friction of moving the open seam firmly over the edge which presses it open.
