4 members like this. Date: 3/6/13 3:21 PM I finished the quilt top today, all but the border:

Border Fabric:

Backing Fabric:

So, any opinions on the border fabric? I think it will make everything pop. DD is helping me later to decide but wanted to ask here.
So far the quilt top is 30" x 36 1/2". I'd like it to be around 34" x 45" since I have my package batting in that size.
Edited to add: the mom to be was shown this fabric before it was sewn together and loved it all so I decided to make it for her baby due in May. The golden yellow sashing is also for the binding. -- Edited on 3/6/13 3:23 PM -- ------ ~Diana~

Date: 3/6/13 6:44 PM It's very pretty. Why is the sashing so wide? I am glad the colors are nice and soft, as in the lower picture. As for the border, do you have anything with more pink in it? If not, I guess I'd choose the top one. The lower one kind of blends in too much and gets lost.

Date: 3/6/13 7:45 PM What a lovely quilt for a baby girl. This looks like a keepsake quilt, that mom will want to tuck away after some use to save when her daughter is older with her own children. ------ Janome MC6600 Bernina 240 Juki MO735 Singer 201-2 Singer 221-1 Singer 15-91 |

Our kids used their small quilts to pieces. Would have been heartbroken if I'd tried to "save" them! |

Date: 3/6/13 10:28 PM Thanks everyone. The golden yellow has silver threads going through it. It would not have been my first choice, but it was in the fabric line and it matches the darker yellows.
Learn, the top fabric is for the border. DD and I decided to put a 3" border on. The sashing will be 2" finished. Why so wide? I needed to make the quilt bigger as it was not going to be big enough. We did not want it wider than the rectangles. The third fabric is the backing fabric. And yes, it seems washed out compared to the other.
Tomorrow I hope to get the border sewn on. I plan on quilting this with my embroidery module. Will post progress! :) ------ ~Diana~

Date: 3/6/13 10:37 PM The new mother will love this and treasure it for many years. The child will enjoy snuggling into this quilt.
The yellow looked like it has silver threads in it. I bet it is lovely when you are looking right at it with the light shining on it.
You have done a terrific job on it. Pat yourself on the back. I really love those soft colors you chose for it. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.
