I just registered this past weekend. I'm taking one of the machine quilting classes (BYOM), but I'm going to have to bring my Kenmore, cuz I'm pretty sure they won't appreciate me lugging in my trusty Singer 27 treadle ;)

Have either of you attended classes at this show before? Does it usually book up in advance? I want to register for some classes, but my husband is usually out of town M-F so may not know until last minute if I can attend those days. I don't think anyone will appreciate my 2 and 3 year old's there.

I'm also planning to attend this. I'm looking into taking the Pants fitting by Sarah Veblen and the Transitional Fitting by Cynthia Guffey. I'm also interested in how quickly these things fill up. I'm a little leary about making my reservations so far in advance. At my age, you never know what will happen next week

I have been sewing for years, however am completely self taught. I also have found this site because I am trying desperately to teach myself to sew from patterns. I have never really sewn much clothing before besides some dresses for my daughter which I am dying to sew more finished looking pieces. I could fill the entire three days with classes back to back and be happy. If only I can sucker someone to watch my kids

Hope to see you ladies there

Had a great time at the Baltimore Sew and Quilt Expo at the Baltimore Convention Center. I so wish it was held at the Timonium Fairgrounds instead of in center city. Turn out was very low on Thursday, Friday seemed better and Sat was great! I took classes with Sarah Veblen and loved the detail that she provides. You can just tell that she loves anything related to making garments from the fit to the fabric to the actual sewing skills! Also took Rae Cumbie's classes = her jacket is awesome. Wish Michael brought some of his fabrics, since Vogue fabrics was not there. Would love to see more apparel fabric gems. Found lots of crafts and quilting. ... Let's get more sewing apparel in next time!

Nannabelle, thanks for letting us know how the Expo went. I was thinking of coming, but talked myself out of it. My husband had been in that area before and said it wasn't very safe. It would have just been two of us ladies and not knowing the area, I was a bit apprehensive. I'm hoping the Expo at Chantilly comes in the Fall. That would be more do-able for me.

I also wanted to take a Sarah Veblen class. Oh well, maybe next time:-)

Did you pick up any pretty material while there?

I went this year, too. I took the Metro from Owings Mills, but someone from Virginia could drive up to BWI and catch the light rail in to Baltimore. The area around the convention center is virtually all business and retail. I didn't experience any issues of feeling unsafe, and I went to/from alone.

The Expo isn't going to Chantilly anymore; apparently that venue has been sold and is no longer available. However it will be in Fredricksburg, VA in the fall.

I had a great time :)
