I recently picked up two meters of the most beautiful Georgette fabric, but I have no idea what to do with it. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for possible patterns that they have used, keeping in mind my local shop strictly carries Butterick, Vogue, McCall's and Simplicity. I'm not sure what could be made from two meters, but I'd like to make an actual article of clothing and not just another beach wrap.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance :)

Well, a dress or a floaty top, but what's your style? What kind of thing do you like to wear?

I've got georgette waiting for this one. There are all kinds of cute top patterns.

Sorry >.< I should have been more specific. It's a multi-colour dyed georgette, it looks like watercolours. It's really fun and summery. I'm hoping to make something along the lines of a summer dress (short, given the fabric amount), or a skirt. I love the bottom on either of these dresses >

Skirt style 1
Skirt style 2

I had tried looking for a similar dress pattern using the search engine on Simplicity, but it wasn't terribly successful. It would be nice if websites had some way of organizing patterns by suggested fabrics.

I really like the blouse pattern but I'm not sure my selected material would translate well into it. I feel it might be best as a skirt, or strapless/spaghetti strap dress.
Thank you so much for your quick and helpful responses!

You know you've chosen a style that eats fabric for breakfast? You may need to consider options like making the ruffles out of your georgette and using another fabric for the base layer (and the bodice, if it's a dress), or alternating the ruffles with a plain fabric.

Here is a pattern for that type of skirt:

Vogue 7744 (out-of-print(OOP), but readily available on Ebay or Etsy).

Other patterns I found:

Simplicity 2639 View C - this would be one where you would have to combine your fabric with another base fabric. Have just realised that this is OOP too even though it's still for sale on their website (and here's one in the smaller sizes if that's what you need.)

Simplicity 4577 (Also OOP).

Simplicity 2582

Simplicity 3501

You could also go for a simpler skirt style (just nothing too fitted), as the fabric will be the star of the show. I always forget that. e.g.

Simplicity 4138 (View A, E or F - the short simple ones)

I love georgette. It's a pain to work with but the results are lovely. The other type of garment I would use it for would be a top with for example a cowl neck and flutter sleeves.

I hope that helps. I know some of those are OOP but I was careful to check that they're easy to get hold of.

There is an adorable sundress by Katherine Tilton by Butterick (B5881) new out this Spring. I just picked it up and I think Joann's is selling them cheap this weekend. You can add chiffon for the layers, it will look lovely.

Pic on website.

I know you said Big 4, but what about this downloadable pattern from Burda? I'm currently making it in silk charmeuse, but its recommended fabric is georgette. I shortened it quite a bit and was able to get it cut on 45", and you can use something else for the lining pieces since you only have two yards.

I assume your fabric is 112 cm wide? I have another suggestion if it's 150 cm.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions!
I feel 2639 is probably the closest pattern to the technique I have in mind. I think I will sew a skirt instead of a full out dress.

Kathleen - Yes it's 112cm :)
