I'm agonizing over this purchase: are they too big? I wish there were some constructive reviews.

Think THIS is worth a try?

50 for $12!

I think for a shoulder strap I would worry about 5/8 of an inch being too small rather than too big. You want the straps and their connectors to be pretty sturdy for every-day bags. If you're making evening bags, maybe then I'd worry about 5/8 inch being too big--but then that doesn't look like evening bag hardware to me.

Yes, this confused me also --

Apparently, 5/8 is the size of the eye,
and the entire snap hook is actually 1 5/8"!

Not evening bags, casual shoulder strap bags.

Whaddya think?

I think it depends on the size of the bags - probably okay for wristlets and other small bags. Check etsy, lots of good hardware deals there.

The only type of purse I use is a shoulder bag. I can not stand a bag that you have to carry with your hands!

The size of that looks good for bags like cross bodys, smaller shoulder bags and wristlets. The thing that would keep me from liking it for a smaller bag is the fact that it swivels. Those smaller straps tend to twist anyway and you add a swivel hook and it'd be a nightmare-at least for me!

Any of my day to day bags (roughly 12x12) have a minimum 1" strap and either a D ring or oval shaped hardware.

Measured the same fastener on my custom made (Read Expensive) leather back pack. It measures 2.5" total length - the swivel part is 1.5"

And I just measured one on a modestly sized Coach handbag with a not-very-wide, cross-body strap (about 1/2 " wide.)

Also 2.5" long and it looks a lot sturdier/heavier than those.
