Last Fall I briefly tested the 8900 at a regional quilt show, and was disappointed with how crinkly the straight stitching made the fabric; i.e., the tension was off. At the same show, the Bernina 710 performed flawlessly and was several hundred dollars less expensive. Sewing time on each machine was less than 30 minutes, so I would not base your decisions on my limited exposure to those machines. Just relating my eperiences . . .
