Date: 3/10/13 8:56 AM Did some playing tonight. I found these online
Patterns
And printed them out on newspaper print. I got a ream of this when I was in to paper piecing. Tears away great. Anyway I printed these and and taped them to a quilt sandwich with medical tape (the lightweight stuff that just peels off). And gave it a go. I was rather pleased with the results. I first tried it on the Janome and wasn't crazy about it, then tried on the Bernina, who didn't got get the spa treatment yesterday cos I'm just not ready to part with it for 2-3 weeks. And was very pleased. I know with more practice and skill on my part I will achieve the desire affects. I feel I have so much better control with the Bernina then the Janome. The tension was much better also. Wasn't happy with tension at all on the Janome. I'm trying to make it a point when I go to sew to practice FMQ even if only for 10 minutes. I've almost got the Splash top together. I'm going to do a blog posts with pictures this week. I just did a search on newsprint the right size to go through printer and couldn't really find it I can't remember where I got it. Some years back I got some very thin vellum in a pak from Carol Doak. It was great as it was see through. Office depot had it a little thicker which was workable. Thanks! Got it bookmarked.
So your Bernina you felt gave you better stitches? Good that you have some to choose from. I want to try some basic stomping pattern later - pebbles or ??
Love how we can find Free stuff on the internet!!
Can't wait to see how your practice goes. Good idea to just put it in your sewing time, little by little!
:-Deb------ I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.
