I like this simple little pattern and I'd like to make the pants that go with. Simplicity 1887

I have a slight bagginess in the crotch that I'd like to correct on this muslin.

Pin out the cross wise folds and then measure and remove from pattern as a wedge shaped dart ending at the side seam, which is your pivot point. Take a clip from the outside in as well but don't cut through.
I also think that these are over fitted and too tight. Your pleats don't hang straight and the waist is too tight as well . When fitting pleats you should pin them out so that they lay flat and down at least to the crotch. This will let you add the correct amount of ease without stealing it from your pleat ease.

It appears the legs are too tight and not letting the pant fall naturally from the waist. If the pant legs were a bit larger the folds may be less or even eliminated.

Cheatsheet for fitting pants.
