Those of you with an Imagine, can you do a cover stitch and can you do a 3 thread over edge stitch on this machine?? If so, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

No, the Imagine does not do a coverstitch. Yes, it does a 3-thread overlock.

You can do a 2, 3 or 4 stitch process, but this is not a coverstitch machine.

You will have to go a step higher.

You can find an overview, pictures and the option to compare different models at the babylock website.

You have to go more than a step higher as the Enlighten doesn't coverstitch either, just the Evolution. They also have better lighting! Something I covet...

BL also has a separate coverhem machine. That is what I have along with my Imagine.

I have the separate coverhem machine with my Imagine and I love it. I can have them both threaded for the same project and go back and forth. Both are great machines.

I have an imagine and an Elna 444 (similar to the Coverpro 1000; it uses the janome attachments)

I am considering purchasing a new Elna 444 for $650.00 out the door. Is this a good price in today's market? Can you share with me the pros and cons you've encountered with this cover stitch machine? Thanks in advance for any information you may have from your personal experiences with this machine.

The price is pretty good for this machine. I got my machine an older 434 for about $600 a couple of years ago. Here is a review (I think she is an Elna educator) about the 444 Elna444

Good luck, I like my machine - It does taking some getting used too. The 444 has some great features as you will find out from the review. Now I wish I waited but to get this new one ....

One thing when considering any coverhem machine, bring test fabric. Even a fake hem with a seam so you can see how it sews over the intersections. Take knits and wovens. I have a 434 elna, it is not good at going over seams on knits. I purchased a used BL coverhem machine it works great. You may need to use special needles also. I understand that people have great success with the chrome needles. And you would want to get a clear foot no matter what machine you buy. I paid under $300 for the 434, 3 years ago. I think that the 444 is the same machine but has an additional adjustment for the looper or something of that sort.
