Sewing with bouclé, what skirt /jacket pattern to choose? help with choosing pattern that suits fabric.

I have in my stash some nice patterns to choose from and I was thinking to choose between: 1) Vogue Patterns 8461 MISSES'/MISSES' PETITE JACKET AND SKIRT http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/17284 I would do the taller jacket and tall skirt. But I´m concerned that maybe this skirt will look ridiculous in boucle... 2) Vogue Patterns 8674 Misses' Jacket And Belt http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/41383 and that I would combine with a tall 8 panel skirt; Burda 8213 http://sewing.patternreview.com/Patterns/8772 Or is it that both skirt patterns are not helpful but I should try to find a straight tall skirt? Anyway I´m waiting with the decision and looking around and fall is far away, it´s not even spring yet where I live!

There are several versions here: Chanel on Pintrest Here are some knock-offs as well: Boucle suits ------ I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... Most of the pleasure is in getting that last little piece perfect...Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just keep showing up and doing the work. The skirt didn't get much wear but I loved the jacket. You may also look into lining it, or underlining with light weight knit. Helps keep shape of garment, prevents fabric from becoming itchy, easier to slip on/off. Boucies are usually used for a Chanel type jacket. That is no lapels. A pencil or straight skirt works best with the fabric. V6461 skirt calls for a light weight flowing fabric. Most pattern companies have a version of the Chanel type jacket and straight skirt. ------ "Let's make the most of this day" bluefly

I also like the skirts where the boucle is combined with contrast panel (sides?) of wool twill or gabardine. It helps cut down on the overall fuzzy whuzzy blur. The Chanel cardigan is classic but not the only style for boucle, IMHO. It is not flattering on many people.

Date: 3/12/13 10:27 AM Modern Chanel jackets can have lapels, but you are a beginner and I would stick to a simpler jacket without a lapel. I wouldn't go with the couture Claire Schaeffer because, again this is probably too advanced for you to do on your own and the amount of time involved is enormous. Look for a simple cardigan jacket with some seaming and darts and look for a two piece sleeve which will fit you better and is appropriate for a jacket. Pick a simple pencil skirt. That being said, also add a book on making jackets because the patterns just don't have great or detailed instructions. Good luck and have fun. ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com

I did some search in google picture and it seems there is never made a tall skirt in bouclé, but there was tons of stunning jackets, I might just begin with a jacket. I will do a lot of thinking before I cut, that is sure! And thank you for tip sbout having more seam allowance. I would not have thought of that myself!
