I know this topic is almost as worn out as finding the perfect crotch curve, but has anyone figured out how to add height to the sleeve cap and not have so much fullness? Does anyone slice into the cap on each side of the center dot and make little darts with any success?
You can take out ease from a sleeve cap by slicing across at the underarm and taking evenly spaced slices on either side of the center line. They are long narrow darts that end just before the cut line. Make sure they lie flat, tape in place and tape back to the bottom of your sleeve, you'll probably have to put some tissue in place under the cut area.
To add height measure up the amount you need and using a French curve blend it into the sleeve cap.
Nancy, part of my problem was I had to alter the sleeve, because I took a tuck out of the bodice between the shoulder and bust. I replaced the cap height, but maybe I went a bit overboard. I'm not sure just how to do what you suggested. I'm so visual
Ica, the armholes can't go lower or it would be very uncomfortable.
