Only professional, with heavy base, adjustable up-down, pinnable, covered with 100% linen. It is expensive, but worth the investment. I would not advise to buy with adjustable bust-hips mechanisms kinds covered with polyester fabric...

If you look under the Topic "Beginner's Forum" you will see a pinned topic about DressForms. This should be a help to you.

You can do fine with a cheaper dress form. It is even easier when you are fluffy. First check CraigsList or Kijiji in your area, they come up a lot. Get some batting, an old bra and a jersey/interlock shirt or two that are a bit snug and pad it to fit your curves.

This is mine, I need to smooth out a few areas and make the bottom shirt(top is cut off so it is a tube) more form fitting. But I have a custom dress form that is pinnable for less than $100.00.

I bought mine at Joann's when it was on sale for around $100.00. It's adjustable and I love it! When I'm not using it, I keep it covered up with a bag from the dry cleaners.
You take care of it and it'll take care of you!

I have mixed thoughts. I padded an inexpensive one to fit my plus size. It did fine for tops in a general way and I could use it for other family members. But it didnt adjust to my torso length or my sloped, forward shoulders. It put width at the sides (didn't need it) not in the tummy (I padded).
I gave it away when I downsized. I am toying with making one out of paper tape (big thread on PR) as it is lighter and would be my shape.

I have an adjustable one that I bought from Joanne's. I bought the one sized down from mine, then got a tankini in my size, put a bra like the kind I wear on it, and padded it to look exactly like me. I am not even on both sizes (my right side is almost 1/4" larger than my left side). I took quilting batting and layered it under the tankini, and kept going until it matched my measurements exactly.
