Subject: Looking for a tank/camisole pattern Date: 3/12/13 3:05 PM

I bought this polyester fabric that I want to sew into a top to wear under semi sheer and sheer tops. I would like a tank like top pattern, but since it's a woven (silk-like drape), I would need a pattern that has darts and an opening (maybe hook and eye).

Can anyone recommend a good pattern?

Also since I made a practice top with the fabric I noticed the dreaded seam puckering. It's not horrible but not what I would like. I used an 11 needle, but would a 'stretch' needle be more recommended and a specialty thread?

Maybe you could try a 'Sharp' needle.

For a woven cami, you will get a much nicer fit if you work with a bias cut, Take a look at the reviews for this Burda pattern.

Kwik Sew has a similar pattern, but Burda's size gradations are much subtler.

For sewing, try a very, very fine needle, like a size 8 Schmetz "sharp," plus the narrowest zigzag stitch, normal length and almost a straight stitch but not quite.

S8523 is almost like a tank. I did the sleeveless w/ a V neck. You could also do the scoop/sleeveless even though it's not an official view on the pattern. The higher round neck had a button and loop in back, but you could use a hook and eye instead.

Also, the Sorbetto might work if you don't mind it being a little loose. No closure to worry about. To remove the pleat, just put the pleat line on the fabric fold!

For either, you can always make a deeper neckline.
