Date: 3/12/13 9:00 PM I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a mock turtleneck pattern for woven fabric. I need it for a costume (dress, but I can extend a top), and already have the fabric. I've tried altering one of my stretch patterns, but it's not really my forté, and my muslin doesn't really work right.
Vintage patterns are OK. |

Date: 3/12/13 10:06 PM Try maybe looking under the name of Nehru collar instead. Or Stand collar maybe. I think if you call it a Turtleneck, real or mock, all you are going to find is for stretchy knits instead. Nehru most times is split center front and Stand maybe would have a zipper up the back of it.
A 1960's or 1970's kind of style of pattern, probably would be good for that, as I don't think that kind of tall, tight, non knit kind of collar is very popular in most current pattern books right now at all. |

Standing collar
Band collar
Mandarin collar
A turtleneck type collar, that actually folds over is also called:
Turn-down standing collar
Roll-over collar
This page from The Readers' Digest New Complete Guide to Sewing in Google books may provide some inspiration. Scroll down to the next page in the book to see illustrated sewing instructions and how to finish the standing collar in the back of the garment.

Date: 3/13/13 3:48 PM Stand Collar is a winner. Found exactly what I was looking for with that term. I had been hunting down vintage patterns...(I was looking for a 60s style), and using that term popped up the pattern I needed.
