Tricot interfacing.. terminology?

Is there a particular way to describe the kind with the non-slippery back? I recently ordered some lightweight tricot, and it turned out to be the slippery kind, which isn't what I wanted, but I have no idea what I should even look for in descriptions or in searching to find the non-slippery kind. It occurs to me that fusible tricot is probably used a lot in lingerie where a satin-y, slippery texture would be desirable, but I'm using it mainly to stabilize the fashion fabric layer on corsets, so slippery is distinctly bad for my purposes. Friction is my friend. There's nowhere locally to buy fabric besides Joann, which isn't exactly known for quality interfacing options. ------ My (overly complicated) blog: http://maggiedoll.com/

They have great pictures and descriptions of their products and I have read that they are very helpful about answering questions about matching interfacing to fabric and function. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct.

Date: 3/14/13 9:42 AM I work with mills on a regular basis to produce new types and styles of Interfacing. There are several different categories/types of what is commonly known as "Tricot Knit Interfacing". The 2 most common are... Satin Face --very shiny right side that is slick before and after fusing. Circular Knit --not what it sounds like...not knit in a circle. It is an industry term for a polyester knit interfacing that has stretch in all directions (commonly more in the cross-grain). You recognize these as either having a tight "mesh-like" appearance, or a "zig-zag/herringbone" appearance. It may have a "pearl-like" appearance on the face side but is not "slippery", and after fusing it is not "slick", or as we say in the industry it has "Minimal Slide" Polyester is a the fiber of choice for Tricot Knit Interfacing. It is the current -state-of-the-art- fiber for knit interfacing. Nylon interfacing should be avoided as it is cheaper fiber that has a low melt temperature and will not hold up well over time. If you have ever had knit interfacing melt onto your iron as you applied it...it was probably made of nylon. Keep in mind that Tricot Knit Interfacings are flat synthetic knits, and will have some "sheen" and some minimal "slide". Contact online stores and tell them what your special needs are for a Tricot Knit interfacing..ask for a sample swatch of their "circular knit" tricot. If they know interfacing, they will know what that means...if not, you may want to move on to another store. Most online stores should be willing to send you a free sample to see if their product meets your needs. Make sure they are not going to send a tiny 2" square piece...the sample piece should be at least 7"x10" so you can test it properly.
