7 members like this. Date: 3/15/13 3:57 PM Why people Why? I have lots of thread - not really tons you understand, but a nice little amount of quilting thread. And then all the Maxi-Lock which works really well too. About 20 cones of that...and still I cannot keep myself from buying more "Try Me" items and spools of this and that. It is the colors. They draw me in and make me want them to look at....but if I keep buying thread I will never get it used at all. Right now it is only in the vicinity of those cones of ML, and about I have about 75 various spools and smaller cones of cotton and poly quilting threads, and I am NOT counting the garment thread like Metrosene, Gutermann Poly and C&C.
How much is normal???? ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

I will just say I have more than you. Without counting the garment threads, or the embroidery threads. ------ Pfaff Performance 5, a few Berninas, several vintage multiple manufacturers. Love all my machines!

Like JanyceR I have more than you. Way more. Sounds like you haven't even crossed over to the dark side of decorative threads. ------ Tess

Date: 3/15/13 4:47 PM OH goodness you don't even want to know how much I have. I don't even want to know, yet I hunger for more lol. I've gotten 45 spools just from Connecting threads in the last several months. And I plan to get a lot more Aurifil. The embroidery thread, serger thread, poly. I thinking now of how to organize my bobbins so I know what thread is on it. -- Edited on 3/15/13 4:49 PM -- ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com |

Date: 3/15/13 5:17 PM Thanks everyone! Well, OK.....I am going to get more then....HAHAHHAAA...Oh - the bobbins - I have a bobbin box labeled Poly Quilting Thread and I made paper strips and laid them in the bottom of each row labeled "Bottom Line" and "Sew Fine." AND in the Cotton Quilting Threads one the strips say "Essentials" and "Masterpiece." I did that so that if and when I add other Brands I can put slips of paper in the rows for them as well. Never have too many bobbin boxes. And some bobbins in the Pfaff's own accessory box (another product from ArtBin like my bobbin boxes) which has a bobbin holder insert and has cotton quilting threads as well as regular threads. But I can tell the difference in that heavy cotton from the regular Metrosene or Gutermann etc.
I don't find that colored bobbins as a way to differentiate works for me because I like the clear ones better.
HHmmm...so it's OK then to go browse the "Try Mes" a bit more.....
I don't like stashed of fabric piling up either BTW, but i can see that might get out of hand as well now.
I started this thread so we can talk threads...Threads thread as it were...and NO - I haven't gotten any decorative glittery ones yet....I have to master what I have, hahha....I better write that a hundred times: "I have to master what I have."

Date: 3/15/13 5:55 PM It IS the colors, absolutely. A beautiful, unused spool is like a new book, you want to dive right in.
As for normal, you do know where you are, correct? And whom you are asking? ------ Barb |

1 member likes this. Date: 3/15/13 6:04 PM I now have family who want to give me thread. All I know is the thread is at least 30 large cones, made in Mexico and bright colors. No brand name as of yet. Not sure if it is serger or sewing thread.
My niece asked me if I wanted some thread and I said I had gotten picky about thread in the last few months. Then she tells me she must have at least 30 cones of this stuff in bright colors. I am thinking Embroidery thread, maybe. I said I wanted to see a cone or two and see what it is. Then check it out and then decide. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I have far too much, but I love having lots of choices, and the colors are lovely. At least it usually doesn't take up too much space usually.... ------ Viking Lily 545
