This week, I ran across it and used it on both an embroidery and quilting project and I just love it. Such a simple thing. You fill it with water and use it to remove the markings from a water-erasable pen. I used to spray with the sprayer, but my whole project would get wet. This allows me to only wet the marker line. I suppose that you could use a Q-tip and cup of water but this pen is very convenient.
When you are done, just empty and put back in the drawer to try. |

But before that we had pens with a rubber tube like thing inside. And we bought ink in a container. When you squeeze it, then it would fill up with ink and then when you put the tip/nip to paper it would release the ink. We couldn't touch them until about the 5th grade- only could use pencils in school.
But mom let us play with the old ones that had bad tips. We used them to write secret messages. We filled them with lemon juice and wrote on paper and let it dry. Then we passed it to friends who held the paper over a lightbulb to read the hidden message.
Anyway, I forgot all about those inkwell pens until now.
So how do you get water into the modern ones? Is it a rubber like tube? Or do you fill it from the top? ------ re-living my youth through sewing... |

Date: 3/16/13 5:17 PM It has a little plunger like a syringe. Once it is full, you screw on the tip!

Thanks for bringing back that memory! We did that too! It was great fun to write those secret messages. ------ Berninas - with a few vintage other makes, love them all |
