How to tell what I have

I have a sears Kenmore 158.19412. I just bought off eBay some extra accessories. I was wondering, is a vertical bobbin a drop in??? I have heard a lot recently about vertical and horizontal bobbins, but can't for the life of me, figure out what is what.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Laurie

Vertical bobbin = inserted into a bobbin case that holds it vertically (standing up, looks like a wheel from the side).

Horizontal bobbin = drop in = lies flat (horizontally).

If you can see the bobbin and remove/replace it right under the presser foot, it's a horizontal bobbin, or drop-in. If you can't see the bobbin without looking under the bed at the front of the machine, it's a vertical bobbin. These have a bobbin case that you remove every time you change the bobbin. The drop-in ones have a case as well, but you have to remove the presser plate to get it out.

ETA: Based on photos of this machine that I found online, it looks like your machine has a vertical bobbin.

Think of the sun coming up and going down on the horizon as being the same as the drop-in bobbin's location.
