Date: 3/17/13 1:07 PM The pattern is made for a 'very little' to no-stretch denim but I would like to try it in a fabric with a little bit of stretch. Has anyone tried this? I have the Elle pattern, which is made for knits but the Sandra pattern has the jeans look I like.
Any thoughts, recommendations, etc would be appreciated. |

Date: 3/18/13 0:13 AM I made the Sandra Jean in stretch fabric. It worked out fine, although the waist band was huge in stretchy fabric. They are my current favorite pair of jeans. |

Date: 3/18/13 11:16 AM Thank you for this information. Did you size down any of the pattern to account for the stretch? Based on what you said I may use some stabilizer on the waistband. My fabric is ready to be cut and I'm looking forward to getting started |

Date: 3/18/13 7:26 PM I have a big difference between my waist and hip measurements, so I always have to adjust. I find that the waist on these jeans runs wide (compared to Jalie), but I always have to adjust the yoke and the waistband on my pants.
I would definitely recommend interfacing the waistband as this is always a good idea for pants--it prevents the waist from scrunching up as you wear the jeans. It will keep the waistband from stretching to some extent, but as it is a contoured waistband even the interfacing will be on the bias in places and can potentially stretch. Worst thing that could happen is you will need to alter the waistband to fit as you sew.
As far as altering the rest of the pants--my legs are short, so I folded out some of the length at the knee to keep the shaping of the lower leg. |
