Date: 3/17/13 3:48 PM I just wanted to share that if you are trying to get the free Tessuti "Our Fave Top" pdf to print on a Mac, you need to use Safari for the download. I killed a large oak tree trying to get the scale right on the Mozilla/Firefox download, and then tried with the saved PDF - neither worked. An email to Tessuti brought a generally unhelpful response (essentially, find someone who understands computers), but there was a hint-- a screenshot of the Safari print screen. Since I almost never use it, it hadn't occurred to me that the browser would be the issue, (and I don't understand why it should be, since it hasn't been for the Burda pdfs, but there you are. ) Cute top, can't wait to try it! |

Date: 3/17/13 5:24 PM Interesting, I've been fighting printing PDFs that chop off the bottom and top lines - not good when you're trying to balance the checking account (yes, I still like to print and check off cleared checks).
It happens with both safari and chrome....I'm new enough to the Mac world that I'm not of help with your problem. But I am very interested as the answer may be the same for both our problems. |

Date: 3/17/13 6:16 PM Is it possible that the pdfs that chop off bottom and top may have been made for A4 paper and you're trying to print it with letter-sized paper? A4 is a bit longer and narrower than letter. |

Date: 3/17/13 7:25 PM yes, petite, if you are in the US, you can use the legal size to get things to fit. As I've been assembling the PDF I've also just discovered that the third row is labeled wrong--there are two 4a's and 4e should be 4d. The 4e's are skipped--just follow the pattern shapes and you can figure it out! |

Date: 3/17/13 7:53 PM Well, that was not a nice response since they do a business in pdf patterns and you would think they would be helpful in regard to printing same. Have you used Preview to print and view these? I haven't had a problem with Preview. And that is what I use to print PDFs on my iMac. That siad, I have never printed a pattern. But printing from a browser isn't usually anywhere near as good as printing from Preview. Or if you have another graphics program (I recommend GraphicConverter which has almost all the functionality of PhotoShop without the huge price and is maintained and supported meticulously by its developer) that generally works well too. Good luck. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 3/18/13 3:14 PM OK, I tried A4 and letter, same chopped of top/bottom lines. However after reading through a few results from a search for "preview pdf print problem", I finally figured out how to find the selection for scale. It seems to print fine if I expand the print window and make sure I have "scale to fit" selected and "print entire image". It's not the original size, but for my use, it doesn't matter.
So I know this will not help your problem, mmcp. But it might be of use to someone else new to Mac someday. |

Date: 3/18/13 7:00 PM Thank you Muffet, yes I started wtih Preview, which is what I'd used to print Burda patterns with no problem, but it didn't work for this one (which I really don't understand). The only way I could get it to print was downloading in Safari and then printing from within the browser. That worked perfectly, which is why I posted this. Go figure! |
