Date: 3/19/13 9:46 AM I am making New Look 6181 out of print silk chiffon, which is quite sheer, and am lining it with silk crepe de chine. I don't want to interline it because I want to maintain the drape. I am trying to figure out how to do the lining. I was thinking of lining the front and back of the top separately; eliminating the front facing, and attaching the back fabric and lining at the cowl; then joining the shoulders with raw seams enclosed. Then I could sew the side seams of the front and lining separately, and baste the raw armhole edges together. The skirt and lining would be separate, with all joined at the waist. This is supposed to be a drapey pattern so I am hoping that it will still be drapey at the waist since both fabrics are light weight. I am also concerned about the cowl in the back with both fabrics attached at the back. Does anyone have ideas of a better way to do this? |
