Enlarging neck on dress or blouse pattern! NEED HELP! Need help enlarging neckline on dress!!!

All the pieces have been traced to preserve the original. When measuring the collar it appears to be a good 4 1/2 inches smaller than I would like compared to another pattern I have where the neck is perfect. Enlarging the collar piece seems simple. However how do I make the neckline bigger on the back and bodice pieces? Do I evenly distribute the 4 1/2 inches between the front and back? Do I trim away excess fabric after adding the collar? Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows step by step how to do this? I don't want to mess this up. One place I read said to sew deeper into the neck, so I am confused. Do I trace over the pattern using one that fits better? The dress buttons down the front.

Much simpler than having to redraft a new neckline and collar! Debbie
