Date: 3/19/13 12:12 PM I am working on a vintage dress pattern. All the pieces have been traced to preserve the original. When measuring the collar it appears to be a good 4 1/2 inches smaller than I would like compared to another pattern I have where the neck is perfect. Enlarging the collar piece seems simple. However how do I make the neckline bigger on the back and bodice pieces? Do I evenly distribute the 4 1/2 inches between the front and back? Do I trim away excess fabric after adding the collar? Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows step by step how to do this? I don't want to mess this up. One place I read said to sew deeper into the neck, so I am confused. Do I trace over the pattern using one that fits better? The dress buttons down the front. |
