I sewed Sandra Betzina's one-seam knit pull-on slacks from Vogue 1197. My first attempt showed that I had tried a size about two sizes too big! My second try I narrowed the leg a bit the way she describes in her Pants for Every Body book and made a smaller size. It fit really well in back, the narrower leg looked great -- but I have lots of loose extra fabric between my belly and my crotch. I am not talking about "smiles," but folds and folds of fabric running horizontally across the front ! I couldn't find a description of how to alter for that, especially on a one-seam pant like this one. Any ideas about what might be causing that, or what I can adjust? I am concerned that if I pull up the front, the crotch fit will change for the worse.

Lower the waist starting at the side seams and taper in toward the center seam.

Scroll down to the problem and then click on the fix.

Wow, thanks for the amazingly fast response. Can't wait to get home to try this.
