Does anyone have a good method for remembering what machine needle you have installed? I have a couple of different sizes and sharps vs. all-purpose. It is really a pain to take the needle out and nearly blind myself trying to read what it says.

I need some sort of a system where I write down what's currently in the machine when I change needles. Something convenient like how I put a sticker on the machine that says "4" (next to the tension, to remind me what the "default" setting is).

Help!

I've tried every gadget on the market (including post-it notes), and decided that the easiest method for me is spending 3 seconds scotch-taping the plastic needle box to the front of my machine. Very uncool, but cheap and easy.

Whenever I can't remember, I take the needle out and use a magnifying glass, strong reading glasses and my Ott Light to read the engraving on the needle.

I keep my needles in a tackle box, different types in each section. The packet for the needle in use goes in a section at the front.

Gee I thought I was the only one with this problem.....I have a magnifying glass by the machine but really this is not a ideal method.

One of the neatest things about my Bernina is the security function that lets you tell the machine which needle you're using (also which stitchplate and foot).
So the machine will stop you if you try to use a zig zag plate with the single needle plate, or if you forget you have a twin needdle inserted, etc., etc.
Love, love, love Bernina!

I write the type and size on a small Post-It-Note and stick that on the front of the machine.

same as Karla, I tape the packet on the side of the machine. (I might have seen that tip on PR)

I made myself a little rag booklet and drew lines and divided the pages into squares. A page for 'sharps' with a separate square for various sizes, a page for universal with separate squares etc. If I've used the needle but it's still too good to throw out I put it in it's appropriate square. I put one of those coloured head pins in the square for the needle I currently have in my machine so I can tell at a glance what's in my machine. I move the pin to the square for whatever needle as I change needles.
