i am trying since last year to make this quilt i bought a pattern for it SIMIPLICITY 1960 and i have to cut a block Binding it says but its confusing and the number of that pieces is 17 and i really dont understand what they want me to do with that Big piece? can some one guide me mabe?

I found this graphic.

If what you are saying is 17 pieces, it would be the binding for the perimeter of the quilt, but it sounds like too much.

If it is piece number 17, then more information is needed. Is this the block in the center of the quilt? Or, is it a block that strips are cut from to make the binding for the perimeter of the quilt?

If it is any comfort, I find sewing patterns to be way too complicated when it comes to making quilts.

A quilter would use measurements and possibly templates for the corners of this quilt pattern, and not the tissue that sewing patterns use....too much fussing around with big pieces of tissue.

There is a method of quilting that is called paper piecing, but it is not pertinent to this conversation.

im workin on a quilt but im calling it a cheating quilt cause i have a pattern from simplicity the number is 1960 and its easy but to me is very difficult so if anyone can give me any help on this i will be very THANKFUL and so will the special person im making it for (my GRANDDAUGHTER) Cisely Marie

Is this the quilt your working on?

One other person her had done this pattern.
I have the pattern but didn't make it yet.
So what are you having trouble with?

The strips have to be the same width.

You can either cut the lines on the tissue, or measure what the width is (including the seam allowance) and just cut the fabric in the width needed.

You could draw lines on the backside of the fabric to be sure you have the measurement correct before cutting.

yes it is the pattern, I didnt know about the block to make the binding. but someone else helped me figure it out.... thank you if im stuck i will come and ask again....
