I am not sure about this at all, but I have seen zippers on roll I think they call it zipper tape where you can make your own size zipper from it & then not need to buy so many separating zippers. How & what type of roll of zipper would I need to do this? Lately seems I need quite a few of this type of zipper & it would be best for me right now to just get a roll of zipper & be able to do it than to go & have to buy them. (currently have to rely on DH to take me places ugh... you know how that is get what you want & go). Thanks so much for the help.

I don't know about zipper tape but I recently bought a whole bunch of zippers from Wawak and they were 21-cents a piece.
They always have good sales and lots of colors.
If you got the tape you'd only have the one color.

If you are really really wanting to purchase the tape and make separating zippers, you can. It's the stop at the bottom of the tape (an additional part) that makes it separating, as well as I believe it is also the slider (another additional part)--it's not the tape.

If I were you, I'd buy separating zippers through Wawak. They are very reasonable, usually under $2.00, and you can get them in any color you want. Throw in some sewing machine thread, needles, and the $4.00 shipping won't seem too high.

Andye I put in separating zippers but then it comes up with non-separating zippers. What is the term I would put in their search area? Thanks so much.

They're an online company, but they also send you a catalog. They are called Jacket zippers on Wawak, and "two-way" means they have two sliders: one can zip up with another slider to separate at the bottom. Great for ski jackets because you want a little ease around the hip area, (zipper is separated), while at the same time, you want your chest and waist to be covered.
Here's the link to the zippers: click here I've used the nylon coil zippers as they can stand more abuse than the plastic ones. The #10 has the largest teeth; the #3 is a little bigger than a small pant zipper and the #5 is a little bigger still, but not as big as the #10. If they aren't the right size when you order them, call Wawak and they will quickly process a refund or send you out a new one.

Edited to add: They're having a sale on their #3 jacket zippers--buy two and get one free. At .89 cents each, you can't go wrong.

The sliders are the same or the same enough (I've replaced them, by taking them off the top, works fine.). You need to install a pin (the long piece on the side w/o the slider) and a box (the short piece on the side w/ the slider, that the pin fits into, and need to get them properly aligned, so the zipper mates properly. Leaving aside the difficulty of doing that, I've never seen those parts for sale.

I second the recommendation to buy from someone like Wawak. Buy the longest size you'll need, if you're buying for stash; it's easy to shorten one, impossilbe to make it longer.
