Subject: This time it's REAL...I pick up my Bernina 750 on Monday!!! Date: 3/29/13 1:57 PM

Getting some sleep between now and Monday will probably be impossible! My first new machine in 27 years!! I can hardly contain myself! Going from a Bernina 910 to this 750 will be a huge learning curve, I hope I don't pull all my hair out while trying to learn. I know that all of you will be so helpful, as I go, and for that I am truly grateful. I hope the mastery classes will be available very soon. My biggest concern is if I can get an accurate 1/4 inch, since I am mainly a quilter. The straight stitch plate isn't available yet, from what I've been told. Any suggestions you have to help me get started will be sooo helpful.

I've mentioned this before on other threads....I use either the #34 or the #1 and move the needle to the right 3 clicks. Perfection!!! I get much better contact with the 9mm feed dogs this way. The #37 or #57 doesn't do that as well (for me) since it isn't as wide.
Right now I'm preferring the #34 clear foot since it allows me to see what I'm doing better.
And, YAY!!! What's more exciting than a brand-new Bernina?!

Congrats cornut!!! So happy for you. I second using #1 foot or clear 34 and moving the needle to the right.
Oh, and be sure and sew out before you leave!!! Ask them to check that all avaiable updates have been done! I think there is a last one that they have to do at the dealers.

1. CONGRATS!!! Read the manual until Monday...won't be as good, but it'll pass the time, lol!

2. I can get accurate 1/4" seams on Kee (750) with the regular throatplate and foot, so I am sure you'll have no problems whatsoever.

3. The straight stitch plate is available with the embroidery module (comes with); so if you have the module, you will also have that. Don't know if they're available without the module yet.

Congrats again, hope you love your new machine!

EXCITING!!! My neighbor has just bought one and I visited her to see it. It looks like a great machine and pretty too. She only had good things to say about it.

Yay for you, a new 750!
Just check with your dealership the latest update has been installed that is available and do make sure they show you how to thread up the bobbin and how to remove the hook when its time to clean your baby. There are good online UTube videos as well but its good to be show by the dealership you can do it in front of them to make sure you are doing it right before you leave for home.
And I get a very accurate quarter inch seam with the number 37D foot and the machine so the machine is not inaccurate. I do think some people handle fabric in different ways which might explain comments you read that the 9mm Berninas do not piece well. They do, but the feel is different to piecing on 5.5mm machines. I piece on both and results are the same.
I really do love the feel of patchwork on the 750.
