I know it takes time to fit a pattern and that alone is frustrating, but I guess I'm looking for help! The first time I made the Sunshine top according to the dimensions on the pattern and it was too big. Tried again last week with a smaller size and the body of the top is good but the top part (shoulders/armholes) are way too small. Do I just cut the top bigger and keep the smaller size on the bottom -- do you think the 3rd time will be the 'charm'? Any feedback will be helpful...thank you so much!

I definitely think you can use the larger size on top and go down to a smaller size on the bottom with this top.

I did the reverse on this top for myself - tracing smaller size at neckline and shoulders and increasing 1 size from the bust point on down. I may have even come back in to the smaller size for the bottom. (Basically doing a cheater FBA.)

So just trace your correct size for your neckline/shoulders and down to the armholes. Then grade into the smaller size from there on down to the hem.

I really like this top and think I need to make another version for this spring.

HTH and good luck!

I'm struggling to fit this top at the present time too. It seems that the arm holes are for a teeny tiny person. I traced a 16 in the shoulders and went up to a 20 in the bust and 22 in the hips.

I had to scoop the armscye on mine to get a good/comfortable fit in that area.

If you use a drapey enough knit, it shouldn't look like a tent if you get the fit right through the neck/shoulders.

I have finished three Sunshine tops out of stash fabric. I lowered the armhole by about 1 1/4 inches and raised the sleeve cap that much too. It made the sleeve cap into a little puff sleeve, but that's okay. They are nice tops and hubby likes them. I wanted some new clothes, but didn't want to shop or spend money on them because we still have house projects to do. I'll post pictures when I get around to it.

Wow. 2 & 3 are cute but 1 is a knockout! Love that fabric.
