Hi, I bought a Montgomery Wards machine on Ebay. It doesn't have cams, but I did find some in another auction. Will any Wards cams work or do they have to be for the specific machine? The cams don't have a model # on them so no one knows what machine they will fit. Thanks to all who can help.

You may be able to find the cams if you use the model of the SM.

I have the UHT J 1460 (so heavy it could double as a anchor for a battleship).

The cams with the MW are 1 through 11, plus the zig-zag cam which I keep in the machine and remove only if I want to use an different cam.

Is it a one size fits all? This is the only MW I have ever had in my possession, but here are the measurements for the cams with this model measure: 1 3/8" across the widest bottom area, 3/8" center shaft opening, 5/8" overall height.

The container and accessories look just like this one.

Miy MW is a hand me down and is missing the extra feet. I found a walking foot can be used in place of the buttonhole foot.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. I guess I could buy the cams and try them, but I don't want to ruin the machine. The machine was supposed to have cams and a manual but they didn't send them and told me they lost them. They offered a partial refund but I said no, it's all or else... anyway, I am trying to find what I can and with the measurements you gave me I can check that hopefully. Thanks again.

I don't think there is any way you could ruin this iron horse. The cam either fit or they wont. You just get a straight stitch until the cam is properly set.

I would have asked for a partial refund to help cover the cost of buying cams and a manual.

in looking at the pics of the cams I should have gotten and the ones I might get, they are different at least in color and height. I can't find a manual but did find one for a RRR285 and the machines look similar. You're right about the refund. It would allow me to buy the cams and manual and maybe they would work. Unfortunately, the lost box of cams had several with lots of accessories and the other box only has 7 and a few items. I might just go for the refund and keep watching for cams.

Did you ever find your cams? I inherited my aunt's MW UHT J1460. She had two box of cams, but they don't seem to be for this machine - at any rate, I can't get a decorative stitch. Great straight stitch, but that's all. No zig-zag cam in either box. My friend thought you had to "activate" the cams, but didn't know how. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have recently obtained a set of 11 pattern cams for a Montgomery Ward Sewing machine which I think to be vintage. My best resources seem to fit a model # UHT J1939. If there is anyone out there that may be missing a set of cams please contact me. janism_4@msn.com

Do you still have the cams and if so, how much do you want for them? I have a UHT J1960 and need replacement cams as mine were lost in transit. I think the cams are universal. I can send you a pic or you can send me one to see if they are the same.
