Hi, I have made the Eureka pants up and they are absolutely fantastic. For anyone not familiar with Fit For Art pants patterns, they offer 3 different back shapes which makes it so easy to fit.

My only problem now is that I think I need to tweak the crotch depth on the next pair.

When I walk, as my leg goes forward and lifts, there's a bit of bunching horizontally in the front leg. crotch length is spot on. (I think). I have laid it against my current TNT and it looks, measures and feels the same.

If I pin out 1/4" on fold = 1/2" at the side seams, hip level, the pants feel much better.

My question is this: can I take a wedge out of the hip area going across to nothing at the crotch seam, so as not to disturb the crotch length? If I do this will I then add the 1/2" back on to the bottom of the pants in a wedge from side seam and tapering to inseam?

The other way I could approach this would be to take a 1/2" all the way across at hip level and then lengthen the crotch front and back 1/2"?

I wouldn't like to lengthen the crotch at the crotch points as I have adjusted the inseams for my large thighs and I may cause a problem there.

Sorry for the lengthy email but I'm so excited that I'm this close to my best fit ever!!

If you pin it out and it works better for you, I'd say try it on a quick muslin. If it does work how you like, you'll have a great TNT pants pattern!

thanks for that. I agree. The ladies at Fit for Art have suggested that the front crotch length is too long even though I thought it was ok.

They are right. I pinned out 1/2 " of the front crotch tapered to nothing on the side seams and EUREKA!! they are fantastic. Now to make another pair and just make sure in another fashion fabric.

Funny, I didn't pick up the issue in the toils/mock ups although I did 2 of them.

I think my mistake there was that I didn't walk in them (up and down the hallway) as if I was going to really wear them! I was too too focused on smiles/drag lines/inseams etc. You live and learn!

So glad to hear this! I bought this pants pattern last year, and Sarah Veblen fit the muslin to me and made notes on what I need to change. I liked the fit a lot (mine would be the flat rear version). I really need to make them up. Too bad my lifestyle rarely calls for dress pants anymore!
