I'm glad you started a thread. Being a chapter president, I hate that I have to do the annual meeting on Thursday. There are great all day classes on Thursday.
This year, I'm determined to take an all day class with Susan Kalje, even though I really don't do couture. I mean, I missed Sandra Betzina since she no longer does ASG conferences. I missed Cynthia Guffey since she moved from my home town. I have gone to a Nancy Z seminar, and had a class with Connie Crawford and Sarah Veblen last year.
Sooo, I'd really love a class with her.
It does seem like a good selection - I looked it over today. I'm trying to get someone else from my chapter to come with me! I really don't want to be a loner there. That wouldn't be fun at all.

I hear you. I have to be there for the meeting on Thursday too, but would rather be in one of the All-Day classes. I'm working on planning out my 1st and 2nd choices for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I know we'll have some sort of duties to perform while we're there. I'm just hoping it won't be during a class I really don't want to miss.

Take her with and help her find her "sewing" mojo!!!

:-) Just got to teach my 13 year old grandson how to sew and watch a 1/4" foot and he was fascinated! She is also at a great age to drag along!

Judy, what chapter? I will look for you! I sure hope this years break out session in the afternoon is better than last year. That was very lame! But I enjoyed the ice cream sundaes, .

It would be nice if anyone going from PR could do a dinner together or something.

Changma I'm seeing several classes a 16 year old might be interested in, if she didn't mind being with a bunch of older ladies! Here are the ones I saw that are just about the creative process, or accessories, style, color, etc. You'll have to download the packet to get the descriptions, but there is plenty for her to take even if she is not a sewer, but still interested in fashion and creativity.

1. Hourglass Accessories
2. Upcycle Accessories
3. The Flowers
4. The Color Conundrum
5. Design Unique Fabrics with Paints
6. Beaded-Edge Bracelet
7. The Queen's Lovely Brooch
8. Lettering on Cloth
9. Ready Set Sew a Pizza Pillow (ages 8 to 11, but she might enjoy anyway!)
10. Beaded Button
11. The Biology of Color
12. Addictive Clothesline Bowl
13. Fabulous Fiber Buttons
14. Accessories from the Heart
15. Faux Crazy Watchband
16. Bleach isn't Just for Laundry
17. Treasure Bag
18. Color and Inspiration
19. Upcycle that Garment
20. Three Beaded Edges
21. Creative Clay Buttons
22. let there be Color

I find that it's easy to make new sewing friends there! I'll meet up with you, if you want. I love the classes this year. If I get my 1st choices, I'll be taking Weaving Cloth, Jeans Fit Workshop, Full Bust Adjustment by the D-Cup Full, Lettering On Cloth & Jeans Styling Workshop.

Is she interested in sewing? They are having some kids classes this year as well as she may be interested in some regular ones. There are also side trips.

I belong to the Jacksonville, FL Chapter. In 2010, a group of PR members got together one day at lunch. I forget the name of the person who arranged it, but one of the tables was designated for the group. I enjoyed meeting and talking with fellow PR members.
