I love the knee lift on my sewing machines and would love this feature on a serger.

Am I dreaming?

I think the old BabyLock sergers used to have a presser foot knee bar lift mechanism, like maybe back in the 1990s. Someone else here will know for sure.

I seldom use the presser foot lever. If that is not unusual, then it could be why sergers do not have an optional knee lifter.

I have never used the knee lift on any seeing machine but am not a quilter so no piecing. Plus I have used a knee operated Singer 301 since childhood so my brain is operated to think knee=sew.
But I was just thinking yesterday how much much I would have liked a knee lift on my serger. Am making size 2 pjs from knit and was constantly readjusting to tight curve, checking underside to make sure no catches, puckers and that all edges met and having to skoosh fabric a bit when going over intersecting seams.
Have heard one advantage of the knee lift was a bit of extra height and I certainly could have used that!

I would love a knee lift on my serger! But alas, I don't think it exists. I have wished for this for years and years. I am always moving my knee and wondering why the presser foot doesn't lift, lol! Someone told me Janome tried one at some point, but it did not sell or work well. Not sure if this is so or not.

I know there was one for a while, but the serger was not heavy enough not to move around when the knee lift was engaged. Silly!
I wonder if some of the industrial sergers have knee lifts. They would be more than heavy enough to accommodate a knee lift.

The industrial sergers I have sewn on do have knee lifts. I sure wish they would figure out how to get one on the home models!
