I know this is not strictly the right board, but figured this would be the place where others who care about fabric would be looking!

I am unable to sew at the moment, and have also rapidly lost a lot of weight. Not as much fun as one would think. Among other things, my pants are falling down :(

Does anyone happen to know whether it's possible to buy decent, plain cotton chinos online, without the chemical no-wrinkle finish, tons of lycra, enormous boot-cut leg, or low, low rise? (medium rise is just fine, but would like to avoid plumber's butt :-)?

If so, haha, do they make them to fit small adults? 28.5 inch inseam would probably be too much to ask, but I at least need them to fit everywhere else. Worst case, can get them hemmed.

If not, I am considering getting a pair or two custom made, which sounds crazy and expensive for casual pants... plus I need them asap. I even have some fabric, in case you're in my area and have loads of free time...and aren't super pricey.

I have scoured the usual suspects: Lands End, Jcrew (close, but nothing left in my size except the lowest cut.. might have to try anyway), Talbots (another close, but leg a bit too wide, and I don't trust their sizing for ordering online and can't get to the store), Nordstrom, Ralph Lauren, Eddie Bauer, Dockers (ordered a pair of petite Soft Khakis in desperation, though have not arrived yet and the leg looks pretty wide in photo), Calvin Klein, Pendleton, and more... even Zappos, but haven't found anything that looks quite right.

Thanks in advance for any clues, and sorry if I've put anyone out by posting here.

Liz, have you checked LL Bean? I have not shopped with them in ages, but remember they always seemed to have a good variety of sizes in petite thru tall.

Perhaps Overstock.com ?? Also, I've picked up very nice slacks at my local, good quality thrift store. Many times they are brand new but a bit dated meaning a regular waist, nothing fancy but a basic style.
You may want to look at Garnet Hill, not inexpensive but good reviews on their chinos. (I've never purchased from them.)

LL Bean (good quality, true to size, great customer service)
Chadwick's (less expensive than LL Bean, often run big)
If you want to go in person, I'd try Kohl's, if there's one in your area. They seem to have a good selection online but I've only bought in the store. Better for the short & regular than for tall.
Or a good thrift store (just as a quickie alternative to have something that fits).

LLBean, Eddie Bauer, Lands' End, Gap, maybe Old Navy online, Ann Taylor or Talbots for the dressier end of things.

Also Dockers at JCPenney, Kohls, or Sears. Even Walmart or Target might have something since you're in a rush.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies. I had not thought of Overstock. Will take a look.

Actually, LL Bean doesn't go down to my size except in their Signature line. Found one pair of "maybes" there, but I think the rise is too low.

Can't get to the store these days, either, but won't go into that.

Thanks again, everyone, and wish me luck with the Dockers -- Might take a chance on Talbot's if they don't work.

Try Lee.com. They go down to a size 2 & have petite in some styles. You can use the tab to add you request for size/style & the site will load suggestions. HTH

I think I saw some at www.landsend.com.
If you check on coupon code sites, there can be a lot of coupons, sales and free shipping there.

there's are a true petite with a shorter rise. if your rise is average and not petite, you can order regular and they will hem them
if you have to return them, you can take them to a local Sears store, if you have a large Sears near you, some of them have a Lands End petite dept
