Hello,
I have looked in the pattern pages, the review pages and searched the forum but haven't been able to find what I am looking for. Although, with all that there is available here, I am sure to have missed a lot of great stuff. I would love to have suggestion or guidance from the talented people in this group.

I have a bit over 2 yards of cotton velvet that I would like to make into an unlined, summer jacket. I am thinking a short waisted, short sleeve type that would be suitable for a stiffer velvet fabric. Perhaps something more structured/fitted than a bolero. Can anyone suggest a pattern that they like or have seen?

I look forward to any help and suggestions you may have with this project.

Oooo, this brings back such bad memories. I have a gorgeoous piece of cotton velvet from Apple Annie's and thought the right pattern was a jacket by Marcy Tilton for Vogue. After much, much frustration with the muslin, something I don't normally have, I nixed the idea. So, like you, I am also looking for a great jacket pattern for my cotton velvet. I do have to add, you couldn't pay me to wear a cotton velvet jacket in the summer so I am looking for something a bit more "jacket" looking with lining and closures. Good luck and I will be following this post to see what comes up.

woole bully - Thanks so much for your suggestion. I'll look into that lead!

solosmocker - lol. I hope we can both find a great pattern for our velvets. I'm making a mini wardrobe from some great light weight and semi-sheer fabrics and this velvet fits the colors perfectly. I'm hoping to use it for a small jacket for windy/cool days or places that have the ac turned on high. It is a bit stiff since I haven't washed it yet. I'm hoping that it softens up a bit but if not, that's ok. Perhaps a pattern meant for denim? Hmm...

I do wish that I had a clue about modern sewing and patterns.Oh well, no time like the present to figure it all out. :)

I have cotton velveteen, and this pattern selected: Kwik Sew 3334. I think it's perfect for me. Maybe it will do for you.
There must be something in the air, all of us so keen to sew velveteen jackets.

Michele - Wow, what a great pattern! How cute!I added that one to my wish list. I think it would be perfect for a fall jacket that I have been thinking of. I will definitely be getting this pattern. There is a review that shows it with short sleeves also. What a great option! Thank you very much!
