Hi,
Iím new to PR and I also fairly new to sewing. I have been sewing for about 5 months now. I took some classes to draft my own patterns and alter clothes.
I learned to use and thread a serger in my class and now I find that I donít want to go back to serger with a regular sewing machine.
Iím debating between two machines. I havenít called them, but Im hoping I will be able to get it for a lower price than the price listed on craigslist.
I found a Janome 534D for $175 and a Kenmore 385.1574192 for $135. Are these machines overpriced? Iím hoping to get them for $100.
Would that still be too much? Would anyone own any of these sergers or have any idea if they are good machines?
I couldnít find much information on the Kenmore machine on the internet.
Thanks!
Lexie

I bought a Kenmore for a friend, who didn't want it after all. It's the same model. That was a pretty strong machine! It's made by janome.

Check with local sewing machine dealers for a used serger. That way you can ask them to make sure everything is working as should before making your purchase.

Try before you buy.

I bought the Kenmore several years ago for $100.00. It was barely used and had a video.
There's a Brother serger that's very popular here in PR and it's selling new for around $200.00.

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.
