I know I have read about getting rid of the pointy corners on pillows but can not remember how it was done.
Anyone know how it is done?

Check out the notion review on the Pillow template. Good pictures of how to avoid the pointy corner thing.

taper the corners 1/2 inch
the Singer sewing book, 'sewing for the home' has nice photos showing the taper
Before I ever saw the template, I made a pattern out of interfacing with the corners tapered for the sizes I used most

Shorten your stitch length about 1/2" before the corner. Also, you need to clip 1/2" on the strip where the corners are on the pillow, and pivot that clip when sewing.

That is how one avoids the pointy dog-ear corners. Divide the length of each side of the pillow into thirds. One-third from each corner, start to trim the fabric to until you reach a full 1/2" at the corner. Works like a dream!

That's where I read it, "Singer Sewing for the Home". I have that book and even got it out but missed the part about how to trim the corner.

So it was a good thing that the Nancy Notion's website didn't work when I tried to order the templete last night.

Thanks ladies. The amount of knowledge within this group is amazing.

Agreed. Rounding off the corners (by tracing around a glass) works just as well as tapering, and is easier! :)
