So I tried to use my serger on Friday. I threaded it and pressed the peddle. KLONK! The needle broke on the plate. Either the plate is crooked or the looper needle. I just bought the machine and I BROKE IT ALREADY! wah!
I bought it from a reputable place and I have a 1 yr warranty. I dropped it off on Saturday morning and the technician will be there Monday morning. Now the wait, the agony, the anxiety, the worry.
Anyone ever have this issue? I am new to my serger, Husqvarna HClass 200. I am now afraid to use it again. Did I thread it wrong? Were the needles in loose? Argh the torture

Well, I hope it's nothing serious. I just broke a needle the other day too. Silly me...I must have forgotten to tighten the screw after changing needles. I put a new one in, tightened it good, and everything was fine.

I think you threaded it wrong. I have Husqvarva serger too. When I press the peddle after threading and it makes this noisy KLONK sound I know I threaded it wrong. I do not know how, but have not had a broken needle yet....I need to admit I was afraid to use my serger too after I got it. The machine was new to me, expensive and I was afraid to break it. I even had to have a couple private lessons to put me in ease.... Do not worry. You broke the needle but not a machine.

It may be that. If you put in a new needle?, [you know how we are supposed to put a new one in for each new project??!,] that the needle was not inserted fully? That would certainly make the klunk and break the needle.

I received my Serger last night. All was fixed, free of charge, thank Goodness! My husband spoke to the technician, as he is very technical, as I am not, and understands machines very easily. The technician said that most likely something either got jammed in, or we (meaning I) threaded it wrong. the timing was off as a result.

good to know I purchased it from a store that offers service, and warranty!

If you purchase new you have the manufacturer's warranty, which an authorized dealer must honor. Check this as there may be a limited time where labor is free, and then you pay.

If you purchase used, the dealer may offer a limited store warranty.

Keep your receipts and other paperwork that came with the product where you can easily find them when needed....especially the user's manual!
