I am using a Small Shoulder size but have to go out to a large armseye opening to fit my measurements. Wonder what cutting size would I use for the sleeve? Have tried lengthening the sleeve cap but it didn't seem to work. Any suggestions?

Thank you

I would use the same size as the armscye. You can allow for 1.5" ease in the cap. Measure the sleeve cap, subtract the seam allowances. Write the number down. Now measure the armscye, front and back, subract the seam allowances. The sleeve cap can be the same plus 1.5" inches longer. If not, you need to add. Since it is a knit, I usually prefer to make them the same length but I suppose a little ease is not impossible but don't like to make it longer than 1.5" (particularly in a knit). I guess I don't really understand what you mean by the smaller shoulder. If you shave off 1/4" off the shoulder length, that should not influence your sleeve cap. If you made a petite chest adjustment (which succeeds in making the armscye smaller), you would make the sleeve cap smaller. If you then redrew a lower armscye... maybe you did not need to make the adjustment in the first place...

Are you using the size small from the shoulder down to about the notches and then blending to the large from there to the side seam? Or following the size small through the armhole, and extending out at the very bottom of the armsceye curve to the size large side seam?

If you are blending the two curves, you may need to do some blending on the sleeve also, or you might be able to use the size large sleeve. If you are extending at the bottom of the armhole curve, then you would use the size small sleeve and extend to 'match' (but in this case you might need to adjust the width of the sleeve a bit).
